On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, advocates from Georgia joined APSE 2025  in Washington, D.C. for a powerful day of action in support of  Employment First: Employment for All! Georgia was proudly represented as advocates met face-to-face with members of Congress and their staff, including Representatives Rich McCormick and Austin Scott, as  well as Senators Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.

This day was more than just a visit to Capitol Hill — it was a bold stand for  the rights of people with disabilities. Advocates called for the  elimination of Section 14(c), which allows workers with disabilities to be  paid subminimum wages. They also raised their voices in protest  proposed Medicaid cuts and potential reductions in Vocational  Rehabilitation funding — changes that would have a devastating impact on services and opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Together, Georgia’s advocates sent a clear message: Employment is a right, not a privilege. Every person deserves the dignity of meaningful, competitive employment and the support necessary to thrive.
