On February 26th, Star Choices Inc. proudly joined advocates from across Georgia for Advocacy Day at the Capitol—a day dedicated to raising our voices, sharing our stories, and urging real change for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Our team met with legislators to talk about two critical issues: ending sub-minimum wages and expanding Medicaid waiver services. These conversations were not just policy discussions—they were personal. We spoke on behalf of the people we support every day, individuals whose voices deserve to be heard and whose futures depend on equity, inclusion, and access to meaningful support.
There were powerful moments—handshakes, heartfelt stories, and real engagement from lawmakers who listened with intent. Our team came prepared, passionate, and united, fueled by the belief that everyone deserves a fair wage and the services they need to thrive in their communities.
At Star Choices, advocacy isn’t an event—it’s a commitment. We stay involved, we stay informed, and we show up—because the people we support are worth showing up for.
We’re proud to stand on the steps of the Capitol, and even prouder to stand alongside our community—pushing forward for progress.
A special shout out to Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD) for organizing the event at the capital.
